A Gentleman’s Guide to Hong Kong: Where to Shop Sherlock’s Style

Everyone’s favourite (self-declared) high-functioning sociopath-cum-consulting detective is back on the small screen in 2017 — on January 1, BBC’s Sherlock returned for its fourth season. It’s been a long time coming,  and fans are hungry for more of the gripping crime drama.

For the uninitiated, the premise of the show is as follows: Sherlock Holmes, played by a very compelling Benedict Cumberbatch, uses exceptional intellect, logical reasoning and bold skills of deduction to solve crimes in modern-day London, assisted by John Watson (played by Martin Freeman). The series’ mind-twisting storyline takes major credit for its success, but the show has also received wide praise for the singular idiosyncrasies of its main character.

Sardonic and cold-hearted tendencies aside, Sherlock himself has also become somewhat of a British style icon since the inception of the show. The character’s traditional signatures of Inverness cape and deerstalker cap have since been replaced in this modern adaptation with wool overcoats, cashmere scarves and bespoke suits. The style speaks to a level of dapper charm that can be channeled into a Hong Konger gentleman’s wardrobe.

Here, we decode the key points of Sherlock’s attire and point you to the right Hong Kong stores to get the look, should you want a slice of the iconic detective’s wardrobe for yourself.
